“Hello World!” – This phrase resonates with beginner IT programmers. While I may not be one, I am a beginner, venturing into showcasing my ability through the vast realm of the Internet. This post marks my introduction, my initial offering to visitors of this website. Let me introduce myself – I am Rohit, an enthusiast captivated by the beauty of existence, ‘Beauty’ that guides me into the realm of Art.
Commencing from the necessity of drawing in my early school days, I transitioned into the world of visual arts. I must confess; I never acquired formal techniques for using brushes, colors, or shades, nor did I practice the precision of drawing a straight line. I simply continued as instructed. Yet, I find myself unable to draw a straight line, but the lingering aromas of graphite, the textures of papers, and the delicate touches of brushes remain ingrained in my subconscious.
As days passed, through the failure of a musical journey, a new toy I got. A camera. Yes, every time I pretend to be a kid and interpret all the avenues to seek beauty as a toy. I always disrespect the universe. I always hurt the beauty. And suddenly, this new toy… this new buddy bestowed upon me a purpose: understanding beauty in its boundless existence.

Photography became my Shifu, imparting a precious lesson – Discipline. The journey in photography taught me that there is no peak to reach, no defined success, nothing to achieve, but a path to tread. It compelled me to love and steered me toward the world of Filmmaking.
I can remember those nights when I just left my home at midnight to stroll around my city Kolkata and was trying to capture as many frames as I could. Suddenly, when dawn emerged in the sky, I found so many chunks of stories in a park or near a highway or just in an alley of North Kolkata… and I found an old, pretty old man who sat beside me and by spotting those stories asked me – “Wanna listen to those chitchats more closely kid?” Photography is that old man to me.
My comfort lies in capturing stills from a distance, avoiding consciousness in the subjects, and refraining from disrupting moments with a zoom lens. Yet, I yearned to listen more closely to those stories. Inspired by the old man’s suggestion, I started interpreting the storytelling from the perspective of cinema, and this journey continues. Five years ago, I found myself at an editing table, where film editing became my source of livelihood. Amidst all the diverse experiences during my journey, photography has remained a constant companion. Still, I am walking and becoming tired. This tiredness makes me calm and sleepy, and what is more beautiful in the world of dreams than a restful, calm sleep?
